The University of Michigan Club of Northern New Jersey offers a need-based scholarship to one scholar from the State of New Jersey who is enrolled as an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan. In April 2016, the Club will award one non-renewable $2,000 scholarship award for the 2016-2017 school year from the Northern New Jersey Club Scholarship Fund (Expendable C365485). The announcement of the recipient will be made by the Scholarship Committee of the UM Club of Northern NJ.
This year’s scholarship was awarded to a young woman from River Dell Regional High School, Oradell, NJ and admitted to the College of Engineering for the 2015-2016 calendar year. This year’s award was offered to honor a long-time Club member and alumnus, Henry Benedetto, who passed ad astra March 2007. Pat and Henry Benedetto were dedicated to recruitment and student support for high school students interested in Michigan for several decades. Without their dedication to the University of Michigan, the Scholarship Fund, and thus the Scholarship Award, would not be available to future New Jerseyans who will attend the University of Michigan.
