University of Michigan Alumni Association

About

We have a long history of providing outstanding programming for Lansing area alumni, including activities such as our annual fall Kickoff Reception, wine-tasting parties, Lugnuts summer outings, happy hours for recent grads, community service projects (Habitat for Humanity, Race for the Cure), road trips to U-M basketball and hockey games, summer family picnics, gourmet dinners, beer-tasting parties, Big House tours, and family pumpkin-picking and hayrides in the fall. Our efforts to provide diverse programming for our membership resulted in the club being named by the Alumni Association as the Metro Region Outstanding Club in 2007.

The club has a strong commitment to increasing the number of Lansing area students who apply to and attend the University of Michigan.  Over the past several years, we have hosted free bus trips to Ann Arbor to allow Lansing School District students an opportunity to visit the U-M campus.  We also sponsor financial aid and essay-writing workshops for area juniors and seniors.

Additionally, each year the club awards a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from 12 area high schools to use upon their enrollment at Michigan. These scholarship winners are recognized at an annual scholarship reception each May.  Finally, we host an annual send off picnic each August to say farewell and good luck to our area students who will be freshmen at Michigan in the fall.  Because of these efforts, the Alumni Association named the club its Metro Region Outstanding Club for Student Relations in 2008 and again in 2009.

It is our goal to offer events that appeal to all of our membership, and we always welcome suggestions for future events.  If you would like to join us for events throughout the year, please continue to visit this website, find us on Facebook, or check your email for our communications.  If you would like to get involved, please feel free to contact us at umlansingclub@umich.edu
